THE POWER OF CONSISTENCY

I’m kicking this personal update off with a focus on consistency. I have noticed over the last couple of weeks with friends, clients and followers that lots of people are finding it not only difficult to stick to consistent habits and routines – but also that they are either lacking in motivation or losing faith in this process. Building consistent habits and routines takes time – yes. But creating these systems is only one small part of the journey… When you are trying to change something in your life or go after a specific goal you need to not only be committed to building good routines and habits but also understand that results don’t come straight away. It takes time to see the rewards or results of your efforts and this requires faith and the ability to see the end game. I’ve heard it from several clients this week and whilst they are able to identify this ‘end game’ and recognise or verbalise that they know it will take time – I can still feel the frustration and disappointment in their comments when results don’t show straight away. I think for me, it’s easier to switch my mindset and adopt this long-term view of progress because I’ve been through this process many times. I’ve been training and competing for a number of years so I am familiar with the process, but I’ve also been able to adopt this mindset when creating new systems and routines with my business or developing something new. I know that it takes time and I don’t expect to be shredded in four weeks, nor do I expect to have my next business project finished and super successful within a couple of months. So I guess what I’m saying is – it’s important to play the long game and stop looking for that quick fix! Focus on the day-to-day and the things you are doing during each moment in order to build habits over time which WILL result in your efforts paying off. It’s all about consistency putting in the work and so in my latest podcast episode I dive into the nitty gritty of what it means to be consistent and how this will be the most powerful skill you can develop over time… I talk about what consistency is ‘in action’, why people struggle with it, what consistency demands of us all and how to apply this to everything in life. If you tune in – please let me know what you think and feel free to share with me the consistent ‘action’ you are putting into place this week.
